Order for stern action against those involved in drug smuggling in educational institutions and hostels across Punjab 

Lahore, November 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that eradication of drug menace and criminals from society involved in this heinous business is top priority of Punjab Police for which police teams should intensify their operations in all districts.

IG Punjab directed RPOs, DPOs to take action against drug sellers, dealers and smugglers in all districts across province under zero tolerance and bring them behind bars. Rao Sardar Ali Khan directed that operations be carried out in vicinity of educational institutions, colleges, universities and hostels on daily basis so that young generation lured to fashionable drugs i.e meth (ice) may be saved by eliminating the criminals who supply these drugs.

IG Punjab directed supervisory officers to formulate a special plan under their supervision for operations against drug dealers and to further fast track operations with effective coordination of other government departments working for drug eradication. On the direction of IG Punjab, swift actions are being taken against drug dealers in all districts across the province.

Reporting on the ongoing operations against drug dealers in all districts of province, Punjab Police Spokesperson said that Punjab Police has registered 44921 cases against drug smugglers and dealers involved in drug supply chain in all districts of the province this year and 45793 drug dealers, smugglers were arrested in this regard.

Total 22042 kg of hashish, 662.119 kg of heroin, 49123 gm of meth (ice) and 747210 litres of liquor were recovered from possession of the accused, he said. 1770 cases were registered against dealers and smugglers involved in the supply chain and 1747 drug dealers, smugglers and criminals were arrested during current week.

Giving details of all regions of Punjab, he said that 309 cases were registered against drug dealers in Lahore and 307 persons were arrested while 116 kgs of hashish, 06 kgs of heroin, 483 Gms of meth and 2437 litres of liquor were recovered from their possession. In Sheikhupura region, 46 cases were registered against drug dealers and 44 persons were arrested, 31 kg of hashish and 417 litres of liquor were recovered from possession of the accused.

In Gujranwala, 341 cases were registered against drug dealers and 318 persons were arrested while 188 kg of hashish, 11 kg of heroin, 4 g of meth and 999 litres of liquor were recovered from their possession. While registering 96 cases against drug dealers in Rawalpindi region, 86 persons were arrested and 33 kg of hashish and 996 litres of liquor were recovered from possession of arrested persons.

In Sargodha region, 69 cases were registered against drug dealers and 59 persons were arrested while 18 kg of hashish, 02 kg of heroin and 661 litres of liquor were recovered from possession of arrested persons. While registering 267 cases against drug dealers in Faisalabad region, 291 persons were arrested and 54 kg of hashish, 2 kg of heroin, 181 g of meth and 5262 litres of liquor were recovered from possession of arrested persons.

In Multan region, 191 cases were registered against drug dealers and 183 persons were arrested while 96 kg of hashish, 1.119 kg of heroin and 2681 litres of liquor were recovered from possession of criminals.

In Sahiwal region, 125 cases were registered against drug dealers and 125 persons were arrested and 46 kg of hashish, 1 kg of heroin and 1832 litres of liquor were recovered from possession of accused.

Similarly, 142 cases were registered against drug dealers in DG Khan Region, 142 persons were arrested while 84 kg of hashish, 12 kg of heroin and 6490 litres of liquor were recovered from possession of criminals.

Likewise, registering 184 cases against drug dealers in Bahawalpur region, 192 persons were arrested and 33 kg of hashish, 25 grams of meth and 3280 litres of liquor were recovered from possession of arrested persons. He further told that, during previous week 699 kg of hashish, 35 kilo and 119 gram heroin, 693 grams of meth (ice) and 25055 litres of liquor were recovered.

IG Punjab directed that action should be taken against anti-social elements found in heinous business of drugs under zero tolerance and if any police officer or official was found involved in sheltering drug dealers, strict departmental and legal action will be taken against him.
