Orangi, Baldia, and Korangi Secure Wins in KMC Metropolitan Cup Football Tournament 2024

Karachi: In the ongoing Karachi Metropolitan Football Cup 2024, organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, four matches were held on Wednesday, showcasing competitive spirit and skill. Teams from Orangi Town, Baldia Town, and Korangi Town emerged victorious, while one match concluded in a draw.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Orangi Town team secured a 2-0 win against Manghopir Town at the KMC Football Stadium. Meanwhile, at the KAKRI Football Ground in Lyari, Korangi Town was awarded a 3-0 victory by walkover against North Nazimabad Town. At Madhu Football Ground, Baldia Town edged out Safoora Town with a 3-2 win, despite Safoora Town scoring two goals. The match between Landhi and Shah Faisal Town at All Brothers Ground in Malir ended in a 1-1 draw.

On Thursday, the tournament continued with four more matches played at various venues. The competitors included Saddar Town against North Karachi Town at Kakri Ground, Lyari; Malir versus Chineser Town at Madhur Ground; Ibrahim Haidri Town against Moring Mir Bahr Town at the KMC Football Stadium; and Gulberg Town versus Gulshan Town at Muhammadi Football Ground in Malir.

The tournament has gathered significant attention from football fans in Karachi, with large audiences attending the games. The event features 24 teams, representing town administrations and the KMC. The tournament offers a trophy and a cash prize pool, with the winner receiving 1 million rupees, the runner-up 500,000 rupees, and the third-place team 250,000 rupees. Matches are being held across all seven districts of Karachi, with the semi-finals and final scheduled to take place under floodlights. FIFA-approved referees and technical staff are overseeing the tournament, with former players and experts providing guidance to ensure high standards and a memorable experience for fans.
