Islamabad, July 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):The opening ceremony of 22nd Commonwealth Games is going to be organized today, 28th July, 2022 at the Alexander Stadium, England. Pakistan sports contingent is set to feature in swimming, athletics, para-athletics, badminton, boxing, and women T20 cricket, gymnastics, hockey, judo, squash, table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling. The Federal Minister for IPC Ehsan-ur-Rehman Mazari has reached in Birmingham to attend the inter-ministerial meeting and the opening ceremony.
The Director General Col (Retd) Muhammad Asif Zaman is also a part of the contingent, hoped that their athletes would win laurels for the country. “We have provided every facility to the athletes for training and I hope it’s time now for them to deliver”.
Country’s premier wrestler and two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist Muhammad Inam and the national women’s cricket team skipper Bismah Maroof will serve as flag-bearers during the opening ceremony. 103 participating member contingent will have gathered during the march-past in the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games.
