On the orders of IG Punjab, instructions were issued regarding security arrangements in the last ten days of Ramadan 

Lahore, April 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has issued orders for protection of citizens observing Itikaf in all districts of the province and to make security arrangements for mosques, imambargahs and public places more effective in the last decade of Ramadan. IG Punjab has directed the supervisory officers to formulate a special plan for the security of the citizens attending Itikaf at mosques and other places and use all available resources in security arrangements.

Rao Sardar Ali Khan directed that the data of all the citizens sitting in Itikaf in public places should be checked while close coordination should be maintained with the mosque administration for identification of miscreants and security of the devotees.

IG Punjab said that special measures should be taken for the security of Taak Raat, especially Laylat-ul-Qadr gatherings in the last ten days of Ramadan and lady personnel should also be deployed for the security of women worshipers and devotees in sensitive mosques and imambargahs.

Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that walk-through gates should be installed at the main entrances of sensitive mosques and imambargahs and citizens should be allowed to enter after thorough search. IG Punjab directed to make the security arrangements at the entrances and exits effective and said that search, sweep and combing operations should be continued on daily basis in the vicinity of a category religious and public places.

IG Punjab said that effective patrolling and blockade should be ensured by increasing the number of patrolling teams around sensitive mosques and Imambargahs. He stressed upon strict implementation of Loudspeaker Act so that there should no threat of spoiling the peace. IG Punjab while instructing the supervisory officers further said that such proscribed organizations which were banned from collecting Zakat and donations by the Punjab Home Department should be strictly enforced.

He urged the senior officers to go out in the field and review the security arrangements at sensitive places and make necessary arrangements for backup of CCTV monitoring and video recording for the security of worshipers in major mosques and imambargahs. Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that in the last decade of Ramadan, all possible measures should be taken under the special plan for security of markets, banks and public places so that the incidence of street crime could not increase.
