Omar Abdullah Highlights Lack of Muslim Representation in BJP Government

Jammu: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah has criticized the BJP-led government for excluding Muslims from ministerial roles, underlining the issue during a rally in Mendhar, Poonch in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Abdullah pointed out the absence of Muslim ministers in the central government, despite Muslims constituting 14 percent of India’s population. He challenged the accountability of the Home Minister, especially in regions with significant Muslim populations like Jammu and Kashmir.

Abdullah also criticized policies affecting the Muslim community, such as the enforcement of dress codes in schools and the demolition of Muslim properties in Uttar Pradesh. He voiced his belief in the eventual restoration of statehood and special status to Jammu and Kashmir, condemning the changes imposed on August 5, 2019, as a deliberate act by the central government.
