Omar Abdullah Criticizes BJP for Unfulfilled Promises in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the National Conference, has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) administration in Jammu and Kashmir, accusing it of failing to improve the living conditions in the region despite holding power. During a series of public meetings in Kishtwar, Abdullah expressed his displeasure with the BJP’s governance, terming it ineffective and unresponsive to the people’s needs.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Abdullah articulated his concerns about the absence of development under the BJP’s rule, which he referred to as the “double engine Sarkar.” He pointed out that the local populace has not experienced any significant improvements, contrary to the claims made by the BJP. “The BJP’s report card is empty,” he stated, highlighting the ongoing issues such as poor infrastructure, high electricity costs, rising unemployment, inflation, and the lack of responsive governance.

Abdullah elaborated on the specific challenges faced by the residents, including escalating electricity tariffs that burden the common man, significant unemployment rates, job losses particularly in local projects, and an overall deficiency in effective governance mechanisms.

The National Conference leader accused the BJP of diverting attention from these critical issues by focusing on non-issues, thereby neglecting the real problems faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir. His remarks underscore a growing discontent with the current administration’s performance in addressing the economic and social challenges in the region.
