Srinagar: Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the National Conference, has sharply criticized the Indian government’s abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, attributing it to a hidden agenda unrelated to the armed struggle in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, during a press conference, Abdullah dismissed the notion that the special status of IIOJK was the cause of armed conflict in the region, pointing out the ongoing violence despite the abrogation. “This question should be asked to the BJP, who claim that all militancy is connected with Article 370. After the removal of 370, they promised complete peace in Jammu and Kashmir. The current situation proves that they are careless and not paying attention to their work,” he stated.
Abdullah also addressed the Indian government’s assertions about holding elections in IIOJK, referencing a directive from the Indian Supreme Court to complete the electoral process before September 30. He criticized the local administration’s focus and accused senior officials of neglecting their duties, contributing to the deteriorating security situation in the region.
Omar Abdullah’s remarks underscore the complex political dynamics in IIOJK and reflect ongoing discontent with the Indian government’s policies in the region.
