SRINAGAR, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah contested the claim made by the Modi-led Indian regime that the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is stable. He highlighted that if conditions were truly normal, elections would have already taken place in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during a conversation with reporters in Kupwara, Abdullah questioned, “If the situation is normal, why are elections not held? What is the excuse?” He further emphasized the recent shooting of a police officer in Srinagar and mentioned incidents in Pulwama and Rajouri, a region that was believed to be cleared of militancy, as evidence that the region’s situation remains volatile.
Regarding internal discord among members of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), Abdullah stated he has refrained from targeting any of his allies, despite facing criticisms from them over the past few months. He subtly alluded to PDP leaders criticizing the National Conference during a recent party event, suggesting that his party could delve into past issues if necessary.
