Srinagar, Omar Abdullah, the Vice-President of the National Conference, has accused the administration in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) of coercing government employees to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Srinagar.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Abdullah revealed through social media a redacted document that allegedly details the administration’s efforts to assemble government employees for Modi’s rally. The document suggests that employees are being ordered to report at an unusually early hour of 4:30 am in the midst of freezing temperatures, with threats of disciplinary action looming over those who choose not to attend. Department heads appear to be at the forefront of enforcing these directives, emphasizing the administration’s intention to showcase a significant turnout for the Prime Minister.
In his social media post, Abdullah criticized the Jammu and Kashmir government’s tactics, stating, “The dictatorial J and K Govt has pulled out all stops to give the PM a crowd because the BJP can’t manage anything in J and K without the administration.” This comment underscores Abdullah’s view that the local administration is exerting undue pressure on government employees to artificially inflate the appearance of support for Modi during his visit.
Moreover, Abdullah highlighted that private schools have been drawn into this effort, with directives purportedly issued for them to allocate their buses for transporting employees to the rally site, further indicating the extent of the administration’s involvement in organizing the event.
