Islamabad: A high-level delegation from Oman met with Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, to discuss enhancing cooperation in information technology and telecommunication. The discussions, held on Thursday, focused on cybersecurity, digitalization, and startups, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties in these sectors.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting included presentations on the upcoming Global tech event ‘COMEX 2025’, scheduled for September in Oman. The Omani delegation extended an invitation to Pakistani tech companies to participate in the event, which Minister Khawaja noted could bolster connections between tech companies in Pakistan and Oman. She emphasized the potential for collaboration in cybersecurity and startups, suggesting that both countries could leverage each other’s expertise in IT and telecommunication.
During the Youth Safety Summit, Minister Khawaja highlighted the importance of cybersecurity awareness in the digital age, given the challenges children face on online platforms. She stressed the need for collective responsibility in protecting children online and mentioned ongoing programs aimed at youth empowerment. Notably, she referenced the US Senate’s passage of the Children Online Privacy Protection Act, underscoring the growing complexity of cybersecurity issues amid increasing digitalization.
