Mian Channu: Arshad Nadeem, the Olympic gold medalist and new world record holder in javelin throw from the Paris Olympics 2024, was greeted with jubilant celebrations upon his return to his hometown of Mian Channu today. The athlete’s historic victory has sparked immense pride across Pakistan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, thousands of residents and fans gathered to welcome Nadeem, showering him with flower petals while drumbeats and chants of “Long Live Arshad Nadeem, Long Live Pakistan” filled the air. His journey from Lahore to Mian Channu turned into a procession, with warm receptions at every town and city along the route.
The festivities began earlier when Nadeem landed at Allama Iqbal Lahore Airport, where he was welcomed by notable figures including Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of State for Information Technology Shaza Fatima, and several other dignitaries. Arshad’s family, who received special protocol to travel from their village to Lahore, also joined in the celebrations.
This triumphant homecoming marks a significant moment in Pakistan’s sports history, underscoring the national pride in Nadeem’s remarkable achievement at the international level.
