Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has proposed forming an expert working group from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to develop a plan for lasting stability in Afghanistan. He emphasized that achieving enduring peace necessitates sincerity, reciprocal respect, and political resolve. Addressing the inaugural OIC Contact Group on Afghanistan meeting at the UN General Assembly in New York, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to Afghanistan’s peace, stability, and economic growth.
He highlighted the importance of integrating Afghanistan into the global community, urging OIC members to secure unrestricted humanitarian aid, revitalize commerce and financial institutions, improve regional connections, and encourage conversation about fulfilling international commitments. The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed serious apprehension about terrorist organizations active within Afghanistan, cautioning that they jeopardize regional peace and security. He called upon Afghan officials to implement demonstrable measures against cross-border terrorism.
