OIC Special Envoy Visits Pakistan to Address Kashmir Issue

Islamabad: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, Ambassador Yousef M. Al Dobeay, concluded a significant visit to Pakistan, where he held high-level discussions on the Kashmir conflict. The four-day visit, from April 19-22, 2025, involved meetings with key Pakistani officials to reaffirm the OIC’s support for the Kashmiri people.

During his visit, Ambassador Al Dobeay met with Engineer Amir Muqam, the Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit Baltistan, States and Frontier Regions, as well as Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch. The discussions focused on the ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), with Pakistani leaders expressing gratitude for the OIC’s consistent support.

Pakistani officials emphasized the destabilizing impact of India’s actions and rhetoric in the region. They underscored the trust placed by the Kashmiri people in the OIC and the broader Muslim community for assistance and advocacy in achieving their rights and freedoms. The peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions, was highlighted as a priority.

Ambassador Al Dobeay also held various meetings in Islamabad and Muzaffarabad. He reiterated that the issues of Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir remain central to the OIC’s agenda and discussed measures to alleviate the hardships faced by the Kashmiri people.

This visit marked Ambassador Al Dobeay’s fifth to Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir since his appointment as the OIC Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir. The visit underscored the OIC’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri cause and seeking a resolution to the conflict.
