OIC Expresses Concern Over Human Rights in IIOJK and Palestinian Territories

Geneva, In a significant statement at the Human Rights Council, Pakistan, representing the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), highlighted the critical human rights situations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the Palestinian territories.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Bilal Ahmad, the permanent representative of Pakistan to the United Nations offices in Geneva, emphasized the urgent need for investigations into alleged Israeli war crimes in Gaza and the West Bank. Speaking during the council’s general debate, Ahmad stated, “It is high time that violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law including war crimes committed against the Palestinian people are investigated and accountability follows.”

In the same breath, Ahmad, on behalf of the OIC countries, expressed profound concern over the worsening human rights conditions in IIOJK. The OIC urged India to adhere to relevant UN Security Council resolutions and to implement the recommendations made in the two Kashmir reports by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Additionally, the OIC called for an update on these reports to reflect the current situation more accurately.

This statement marks a concerted effort by the OIC to bring international attention to these prolonged conflicts and their impact on human rights.
