Islamabad, The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has urgently called for the cessation of what it termed as Israel’s aggression against the Palestinians and for the immediate lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip. In a high-level gathering of the Executive Committee of the OIC, the organization emphasized the critical need for countries to expedite the provision of humanitarian, medical, and relief support to Gaza. Furthermore, the OIC unreservedly condemned the deliberate attack on the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, labeling it a severe breach of international humanitarian law.
The Islamic coalition has urged the global community to hold Israel responsible for what they view as grievous violations against the Palestinians. Expressing their disappointment with the United Nations Security Council, the OIC underscored the council’s inefficacy in maintaining global peace and safeguarding unarmed civilians. In their proclamation, the OIC stressed the necessity for the UN and its Security Council to act decisively to curtail the aggression faced by the Palestinians, especially in Gaza and across Palestinian territories.
The OIC reiterated the importance of preserving the holiness of religious sites in Al-Quds and ensuring the protection of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The group also criticized the perceived double standards in international responses, arguing that they effectively enable Israel’s aggressive tactics against the Palestinians. As part of their directive, the Secretary General of the OIC has been tasked to liaise with the five permanent members of the Security Council and other pivotal bodies to ensure Israel ceases its hostilities and to rally support for the Palestinian populace. Concluding their statement, the OIC affirmed their unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s rights, including their pursuit of self-determination, return of refugees, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
