OIC Council of Foreign Ministers Concludes with Istanbul Declaration on Regional Stability and Unity

Istanbul: The 51st Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers concluded in Istanbul with the adoption of the Istanbul Declaration, underscoring the organization’s commitment to addressing pressing international issues, reaffirming support for the Palestinian cause, and condemning recent regional escalations.

The two-day meeting, held from June 21-22, 2025, gathered foreign ministers and heads of delegation from OIC member states, who collectively emphasized the need for the organization to enhance its role amid shifting global dynamics and calls for reform.

The declaration reiterated the OIC’s firm support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, advocating for a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. It also condemned Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, urging a ceasefire and humanitarian aid delivery.

Regional tensions were a focal point, with the declaration condemning Israeli attacks on Iran, Syria, and Lebanon, and expressing solidarity with Pakistan amid military escalations in South Asia. The ministers called for adherence to ceasefires and bilateral agreements to maintain regional peace.

The declaration addressed Islamophobia, urging the international community to combat religious discrimination and extremism. It also welcomed the normalization progress between Azerbaijan and Armenia and supported efforts to reintegrate Syria into international systems.

The Istanbul Declaration articulated the OIC’s ongoing commitment to unity and solidarity, looking ahead to the Islamic Summit Conference in Azerbaijan in 2026 as a platform for further cooperation within the Islamic world.
