OIC Commends Nations for Mediation Efforts Between Pakistan and India

Jeddah: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has praised specific countries for their role in mediating the recent ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India. The organization welcomed the agreement and stressed the importance of continued dialogue to address longstanding issues, including the Kashmir dispute.

The OIC urged the international community to intensify efforts to encourage Pakistan and India to engage in constructive dialogue. The call for dialogue is aimed at resolving disputes through peaceful means and in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The organization expressed concern over the military escalation in South Asia, highlighting the impact of strikes in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It called for restraint and measures to avoid actions that could further destabilize the region.

The General Secretariat reaffirmed its position on respecting the principles of the United Nations Charter and International Law, emphasizing the need to protect civilians, residential areas, and civilian facilities. The OIC reiterated the importance of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The OIC’s statement underscored the importance of a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute to maintain security and stability in South Asia, preventing the region from becoming a flashpoint between two nuclear powers.
