Islamabad: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a reduction in the maximum price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for May 2025, reflecting changes in global market conditions. Effective May 1, 2025, the price adjustment reflects a decrease linked to fluctuations in the Saudi Aramco Contract Price and a slight rise in the US dollar exchange rate.
The newly notified LPG producer price is set at Rs. 203,861.82 per ton, with an 11.8 kg cylinder priced at Rs. 2,405.57. This marks a decrease from April 2025, where the producer price was Rs. 207,065.14 per ton, and the cylinder price stood at Rs. 2,443.37. The reduction represents a Rs. 3,203.32 decrease per ton and Rs. 37.80 per cylinder.
For consumers, the LPG price per ton for May is Rs. 245,161.82, while the cost of an 11.8 kg cylinder will be Rs. 2,892.91. This is down from the previous month’s pricing of Rs. 248,365.14 per ton and Rs. 2,930.71 per cylinder, reflecting the same reduction of Rs. 3,203.32 per ton and Rs. 37.80 per cylinder.
OGRA attributes the price changes to a 1.8% decrease in the Saudi Aramco Contract Price, while the average dollar exchange rate has increased by 0.22%. The net effect is a 1.28% reduction in the LPG consumer price, translating to a Rs. 3.20 decrease per kilogram.
The detailed LPG price notification for May 2025 is available on the OGRA website.
