ISLAMABAD, The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has taken decisive action against the manufacture of substandard liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, conducting raids and closing four illegal production units in Gujranwala.
According to Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority, the enforcement department, in collaboration with the local district administration, targeted operations against non-compliant LPG cylinder manufacturers, uncovering several facilities that were utilizing inferior materials and unsafe manufacturing practices. These facilities were immediately sealed, and first information reports (FIRs) were lodged against the operators, highlighting OGRA’s dedication to consumer safety.
The proliferation of illegal gas cylinder manufacturing facilities has been a significant issue, fuelled by the increasing demand for LPG cylinders in areas lacking adequate natural gas supply. OGRA has reinforced its resolve to dismantle the operations of units producing these hazardous cylinders, which present a clear danger to the public, including the threat of explosions.
OGRA has issued a strong warning to all entities involved in the illegal production of LPG cylinders, demanding an immediate halt to such practices. The authority has made it clear that any defiance of this mandate will result in stringent legal actions, reaffirming its commitment to uphold safety standards and protect consumers.
