NWFC Predicts Light Rain and Snowfall in Northern Regions

Islamabad, The Pakistan Meteorological Department, through its National Weather Forecasting Centre (NWFC), has released the upcoming weather forecast for the country. A westerly wave is poised to influence the upper and central regions starting tomorrow.

According to a news release by National Weather Forecasting Centre, For Friday, the majority of the country will experience dry weather conditions. Despite this, night-time temperatures are predicted to drop, making the northern regions colder. On the same day, sparse areas of south Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Chitral are projected to witness light rain-thunderstorm activity.

Moving on to Saturday, while many regions will see partly cloudy skies, light rain-thunderstorms accompanied by snowfall on elevated terrains are anticipated in isolated locales. Affected regions include Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, upper and central Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Sindh, and southern Balochistan.

Reflecting on the weather conditions of the past 24 hours, a majority of the country stayed dry. Notable exceptions include light drizzle in both Quetta and Gilgit. The department also recorded some of the day’s lowest temperatures, with Leh experiencing a chilling -03°C and Kalam at 00°C.
