Nursing is Sacred Profession to Serve Suffering Humanity

Lahore, July 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):Young nurses should make the service of patients their motto. Nursing is a very sacred profession which has the highest honor of serving humanity. Women who perform their duties in this field not only make a name for themselves in the world but also brighten their future here and life here-in-after. The field of nursing began with a great woman named “Florence Nightingale” whose name is on the front page in the history of nursing and is considered a role model for women in other fields.

These views were expressed by Medical Superintendent LGH Dr. Abdul Razzaq, Focal Person Emergency Dr. Laila Shafiq, Dr. Sonia Ayub, Deputy Nursing Superintendent Dr. Ruqiya Bano, Nursing Supervisor Anwar Sultana and Khalida Tabassum while addressing a ceremony held on the occasion of retirement of Head Nurse Ms. Cecilia Gill. A large number of nurses including Naseem Khaliq, Sadaf Rafiq, Asifa Kiran, Shafi Ashraf, Jawariya, Nudrat Mukhtar, Uzma Yaseen and Parveen were present on the occasion. Speaking at the ceremony, the speakers said that many nurses have made a name for themselves in Pakistan and in the days of epidemics like corona and natural disasters, they have made a name for themselves in the field of Pakistani Nursing Community by providing unparalleled care to the sick and injured ones.

For example, in recent days, there have been sacrifices of nurses in the hospitals of the province and the country, including LGH to save the lives of patients suffering from the deadly corona virus, which is not hidden from anyone. It is mentionable that after 38 years of service to the suffering humanity as Head Nurse, Cecilia Gill has retired from her job in LGH.

However, the journey of service to humanity never ends, the destination continues to move forward and the service to the sick continues, speakers added. Raqiyah Bano and Naseem Khaliq said that Cecilia Gill will continue her journey even after retirement and Cecilia Gill is an ideal role for young nurses who should keep in mind her achievements as the students and nurses coming in this field can get a lot out of that. They further said that we must perform our duties selflessly, keeping alive the high tradition of service to humanity.

Sadaf Rafique, Azma Yaseen, Nadrat Mukhtar and Hafiza Kulsoom said that the Government has taken practical steps to develop the nursing sector and raise the related educational and professional standards and provide better pay scale and service structure to nurses as their welfare has also been improved. In ceremony in her honour, Cecilia Gill thanked the organizers and participants and expressed her gratitude and said that the spiritual peace that comes from it cannot be bought with wealth, she added. Cecilia Gill said that nurses consider the service of patients as their faith by staying on the front foot and the relationship of humanity with them is more important.

Cecilia Gill expressed her commitment to serve the suffering humanity in the future as well and assured her possible cooperation. At the end of the ceremony, a bouquet of flowers was presented to Cecilia Gill by fellow nurses and best wishes were expressed for her health and future.
