Islamabad: In a significant move to support its female workforce, the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) unveiled a new daycare center at its Islamabad office today, located in sector G7/1 near Zero Point. This initiative is part of the broader Prime Minister’s Women Empowerment Package 2024, aiming to enhance work-life balance and productivity among female employees.
According to National Transmission and Despatch Company, the inauguration was led by General Manager (HR) Engr. Sohail Mumtaz Bajwa and General Manager Project Delivery (North) Engr. Shahid Nazir. The new facility is designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the children of NTDC’s female officers and staff. The chief guests, during their address, lauded the Human Resource Directorate of NTDC for their role in establishing the daycare center. They also toured the center’s facilities, including the playroom, nursery, and kitchen, and praised the high standard of the amenities provided.
The daycare center features an indoor play area, a comfortable setting adorned with toys and sofas, and is equipped with modern facilities such as LCD screens and refrigerators. It is expected to deliver substantial benefits by allowing female staff to focus better on their professional roles while ensuring their children are well cared for in a proximate and secure location.
This development at the Islamabad office marks the third such facility within NTDC, following earlier openings at Shaheen Complex and TSG Training Centre in Lahore. The company plans to extend this initiative to other major cities, including Multan and Hyderabad, with the establishment of additional daycare centers to support female employees across its network. A cross-functional team from the head office has been set up in compliance with directives from the Ministry for Energy (Power Division) to oversee the development and management of these centers.
The event was well-attended by NTDC’s focal person for daycare centers, other senior officers, and female staff, all of whom expressed enthusiasm for the positive impact the new center is poised to have on their professional and personal lives.
