NTDC Hosts Final Gender Mainstreaming Workshop in Lahore with French Development Agency Support

Lahore: The National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has concluded a series of gender mainstreaming workshops aimed at promoting gender equality and empowering women within its organization. The final two-day training session, held at a local hotel in Lahore, was organized by NTDC’s Human Resource Department in collaboration with the French Development Agency (AFD) and NIRAS, a consultancy firm engaged by AFD for gender reforms at NTDC.

According to National Transmission and Despatch Company, the workshop was attended by NTDC employees from various departments and was led by Dr. Farzana Bari, a lead trainer from NIRAS. The training covered a wide range of topics, including societal constructs of gender, intersectional approaches to gender equality, Pakistan’s constitutional and international commitments to gender equality, and the necessity of formal gender mainstreaming policies within NTDC.

General Manager (HR) Engr. Sohail Mumtaz Bajwa, who served as the chief guest at the concluding ceremony, emphasized the importance of these initiatives in fostering an inclusive work environment. He also presented shields and certificates to the trainers and participants, acknowledging their contributions to the success of the workshop series that previously took place in Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan, Hyderabad, and Peshawar.

The session also included practical activities, such as group exercises and project cycle design with a gender-sensitive perspective. A significant focus was placed on understanding workplace harassment, debunking myths about it, and exploring Pakistan’s legal framework for preventing sexual harassment at work.

This comprehensive training equipped NTDC staff with the knowledge and tools necessary to support gender equality in the workplace, demonstrating NTDC’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its organizational culture and policies in alignment with global standards.
