Notorious Fugitive Extradited from Saudi Arabia by Punjab Police and Interpol


Dera Ghazi Khan, In a significant joint operation, Punjab Police and Interpol Islamabad successfully extradited a proclaimed offender wanted for kidnapping and murder from Saudi Arabia to Dera Ghazi Khan after eight years on the run. This arrest marks a critical step in Punjab Police’s ongoing campaign against fugitives residing abroad, spearheaded by Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar.



According to Punjab Police, the collaboration between local police, Interpol Islamabad, and Interpol Riyadh led to the capture of Rafiq Ahmed, who was wanted in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a tenth-grade student. After the crime, Ahmed had fled overseas, prompting Punjab Police to issue a red notice and maintain relentless follow-up through Interpol. His arrest and extradition bring this year’s tally of fugitives apprehended from foreign countries to 38. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has praised the effective international cooperation and urged for swift legal proceedings and heightened efforts to apprehend other criminals involved in severe offenses.
