Lahore: In a significant meeting at the Central Police Office, Second Secretary Azra Kurtovic of the Royal Norwegian Embassy, along with a delegation including Police Liaison Officer Per Martin, engaged in comprehensive discussions with Additional IG Welfare and Finance, Riaz Nazir Gara. The meeting centered on enhancing the security measures for Pakistani-Norwegian citizens and fostering deeper cooperation between Norway and Punjab Police.
According to Punjab Police, the discussions emphasized mutual challenges in public safety and policing, with a focus on the collaborative efforts to enhance community policing and infrastructure development. The Norwegian delegation was briefed about several innovative initiatives by Punjab Police, including the implementation of Virtual Women Police Stations, Police Khidmat Centers, and Tahaffuz Centers aimed at aiding over 30,000 individuals from vulnerable communities.
Additional IG Gara highlighted the strides made in empowering women within the police force, with over 9,000 women currently serving and delivering commendable services. He reassured the delegation of Punjab Police’s commitment to the security and rights protection of all foreign nationals, including Norwegians residing in Punjab. The meeting concluded with an exchange of souvenirs, underscoring the friendly ties and mutual respect between the two entities.
