No justification acceptable for violence against women, NA told

Islamabad, July 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):The National Assembly was informed today (Friday) that Islamabad Police is investigating the Noor Mukadam murder case in the right direction and media should refrain from sensationalism. Speaking in the House, Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazhari said no justification is acceptable for torture and violence against women.

Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul said for the first time, the government is becoming plaintiff in murder and rape cases against women and children. She said Islamabad Police have established a gender protection unit and anyone can call on 8090 for help against women harassment and child abuse.

Earlier speaking in the House, Members from both sides of the aisle strongly condemned gruesome acts of violence against women and children, especially barbaric murder of Noor Mukaddam. They demanded exemplary punishments for the culprits and protection for the victims. They also emphasized on Islamic teachings for ethical grooming of the youth. The House will now meet again on Monday at 5 p.m.
