NIA’s court frames charges against Masarrat, Shabbir, Yasin, others

New Delhi, March 19, 2022 (PPI-OT): A court of India’s notorious National Investigation Agency (NIA) has framed charges against illegally detained All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, and several other Hurriyat leaders under the draconian law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) to keep them behind the bars and force them to surrender their just cause of Kashmir’s freedom from Indian illegal occupation.

The charge sheet has been framed by the Special Judge of NIA court Parveen Singh in a false case registered against the leaders for organizing large-scale pro-freedom and anti-India protest demonstrations in 2017 across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Besides Masarrat Aalam Butt, the charge sheet has been framed against fourteen other persons including Hurriyat leaders, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Peer Siafullah, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, and Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam. These leaders have been languishing in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail for the last over four years.

The court claimed that a criminal conspiracy was hatched with the ultimate goal of secession of Jammu and Kashmir from India. On the other hand, the APHC leader, Abdul Samad Inqalabi, in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly denounced the killing of innocent youth by Indian troops in IIOJK and shifting of illegally detained Kashmiris from the occupied territory to the Indian jails. He said that Kashmiris were being punished just for demanding their birthright, the right to self-determination.

Inqilabi said that it was the responsibility of the international community to take cognizance of the Indian state terrorism in IIOJK and play its role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
