NIA raids houses of JI members and pro-freedom activists in IIOJK

Srinagar, June 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):India’s dreaded National Investigation Agency (NIA) along with paramilitary force Central Reserve Police Force and Special Operation Group conducted, on the second consecutive day, today, house raids and search operations at multiple locations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The NIA sleuths along with personnel of CRPF and SOG on the directions of BJP government, especially Home Minister Amit Shah, carried out raids on houses of members of Jamaat-e-Islami and supporters of right to self-determination in Srinagar, Budgam, Baramulla and other areas of the territory.

The NIA in its statement claimed that the members of the Jamaat-e-Islami had been collecting funds domestically and abroad which were used for pro-freedom activities. The agency raided and searched the houses of JI activists Farooq Ahmad Butt at Chinar Bagh, Srinagar, Khursheed Sanai at Hanjura in Budgam and Bilal Ahmad Mir, Hafeezullah Ganai and Shoaib Mohammad at Chandkoot Kreeri and Sangri in Baramulla district.

In fact, the BJP government, under fire from human rights quarters for banning JI-run Falahe Aaam schools, tried to justify its action by saying that “The funds raised by Jamaat were also used to motivate youth of Kashmir to participate in” pro-freedom activities. “During the raids and search operations on Thursday, the NIA seized various documents and electronic devices”, the agency officials said.
