Srinagar, August 01, 2023 (PPI-OT): India’s dreaded National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) conducted raids at multiple locations across the Kashmir valley including Srinagar and detained some people in the name of questioning in concocted cases. The NIA sleuths raided the residence of a youth, Zubair Siddiq Dar, at Bonpora Batmaloo, Srinagar, and took him along to PS Batmaloo, what they said, for questioning in an NGO funding case.
The NIA also raided the residence of another youth, Arshad Andrabi at Cooperative Colony Peerbagh in Budgam. Another NIA team searched the residence of Advocate Parvaiz Ahmad Imroz, renowned human rights activist and a close associate of rights defender Khurram Parvez, at Kanta Bagh, Kralpora in Kupwara. The residence of Saleem Ahmad Malik was also searched by the sleuths of NIA at Kralpora in the district.
Similarly, raids were conducted in other parts of the Kashmir valley. The agency claimed that it was probing the involvement of some Valley-based NGOs, trusts and societies in funding of pro-freedom activities. “Some NGOs, both registered as well as unregistered, have been collecting funds domestically and abroad under the cover of doing charity and various welfare activities,” the agency claimed.
Meanwhile, the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) sleuths along with Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel conducted searches in Srinagar, Islamabad, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Baramulla, Bandipore and other parts of the valley. The raids were going on at many places when the report came in. Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on Tuesday attached ancestral property land measuring 6 Kanals and 3 Marla belonging to one Hurriyat leader, Adul Rashid Qureshi in Kachama area of Kupwara district. Farooq Qureshi who had migrated from IIOJK to AJK.
