NHA to Construct Seven Major Highways in Gilgit-Baltistan

Skardu: The National Highway Authority is set to undertake the construction of seven significant highways in Gilgit-Baltistan, according to Abdul Aleem Khan, the Minister for Communications. In a recent address to journalists, Khan outlined plans to impose toll taxes on vehicles not registered in the region, while exempting those that are local. The revenue generated from these tolls will be allocated for the upkeep of the newly constructed highways.

According to Radio Pakistan, the initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance infrastructure in Gilgit-Baltistan. The decision to levy tolls on non-local vehicles aims to ensure sustainable funding for the maintenance of the highways, which are expected to bolster regional connectivity and economic growth.
