NHA Implements Mandatory M-Tag Registration for Motorway Vehicles Starting Tuesday

Islamabad, In a move to streamline traffic and enhance convenience for motorists, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced that M-Tag registration will become compulsory for all vehicles using the motorways starting Tuesday. This initiative is aimed at ensuring a smoother flow of traffic at entrance and exit points across the motorway network.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the new regulation is designed to facilitate travelers by reducing waiting times and improving the overall efficiency of motorway travel. To comply with the new mandate, vehicle owners are required to visit customer care centers equipped with their vehicle registration book/card and CNIC to obtain their M-Tag, which enables electronic toll collection.

The NHA has issued a stern warning that vehicles lacking M-Tag registration will be denied entry onto motorways from tomorrow onwards. This policy underscores the authority’s commitment to adopting modern traffic management solutions that leverage technology for enhanced road safety and user experience.

The implementation of mandatory M-Tag registration represents a significant step towards modernizing Pakistan’s transportation infrastructure and aligns with global best practices in highway management and toll collection.
