New Federal Minister for Privatisation Assumes Office in IslamabadLahore Police Chief Reviews Performance of Crime Units

Islamabad, Abdul Aleem Khan officially assumed his role as the Federal Minister for Privatisation today at the Privatisation Division, Islamabad. During his first day, he was briefed extensively on the operations of both the Division and the Privatisation Commission by the respective Federal Secretaries. Minister Khan articulated his dedication to advancing the privatization of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) that are incurring losses, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s directives.

According to Privatisation Commission, this initiative is a pivotal component of the government’s strategy to enhance efficiency and profitability within the public sector. The Minister’s commitment signals a proactive approach towards restructuring and potentially privatizing SOEs that have been a financial burden on the state’s resources. This move is anticipated to not only improve the financial health of these enterprises but also contribute to the overall economic stability of the country.

Lahore, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, Bilal Siddique Kamiana, recently led a review meeting focusing on the Organized Crime Unit and Anti-Vehicles Lifting Staff’s performance. The briefing, provided by DIG (Organized Crime Unit) Imran Kishor, detailed the units’ efforts in combatting serious crimes within the city.



According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, CCPO Kamiana underscored the critical importance of the Organized Crime Unit in eradicating grave offenses and directed the formulation of a robust strategy to apprehend individuals involved in target killings, extortion, and other serious criminal activities. He emphasized the necessity of bringing cases of murder, attempted murder, rape, and robbery to a conclusive end, reflecting a commitment to justice for victims.



Furthermore, the CCPO reviewed the situation regarding motorcycle and vehicle thefts, assigning the task of dismantling theft rings to the Anti-Vehicles Lifting Staff. Kamiana advocated for the deployment of plainclothes officers at known theft locations and the utilization of modern technology, including the Punjab Safe City Authority’s system, to prevent snatchings and enhance crime control.



The meeting, attended by senior police officials, including DIG Imran Kishor, SPs Farqan Bilal and Aftab Ahmed Phalrawan, and SP (AVLS) Rana Zahid Hussain, concluded with a directive for both the Organized Crime Unit and Anti-Vehicles Lifting Staff to elevate their performance in safeguarding Lahore’s citizens.
