Islamabad, A new Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been established by the Government to investigate the recent social media campaign aimed at discrediting the judges of the Supreme Court. This team will focus on uncovering the truth behind these actions and ensuring accountability for those responsible.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the JIT is tasked with identifying and apprehending the individuals behind the campaign. They are expected to work in accordance with the relevant laws to present their findings in the concerned courts. Furthermore, the committee is charged with recommending strategies to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The JIT, under the terms of reference outlined by the committee, is required to submit a preliminary report to the Interior Ministry within two weeks. The committee comprises various representatives, including the Additional Director General of the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency, who will serve as the convener. Other members include representatives from the Intelligence Bureau, the Inter-Services Intelligence, Islamabad Police, and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.
This initiative represents the government’s commitment to uphold the integrity of its judicial system and to combat the influence of malicious online campaigns. The establishment of the JIT is a clear message that such attempts to undermine the nation’s legal institutions will not be tolerated and will be met with stringent investigative measures.
