Jammu: The BJP-led administration in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has established a seven-member committee to identify foreigners who have been illegally residing in the region for the past 13 years. This move primarily targets Rohingya Muslims among other Muslim immigrants, intensifying efforts to manage regional security and immigration.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the committee, headed by the administrative secretary of the IIOJK Home Department, includes various officials from regional and national security and immigration departments. Their mandate is to collect biographic and biometric details, maintain digital records, and coordinate deportation efforts.
Monthly reports are to be submitted to the Indian Home Ministry, with the first report due by the fifth of next month. This committee’s formation follows a significant operation in 2021 where over 270 Rohingyas were detained, highlighting ongoing efforts to address illegal immigration in the region.
