NDMA Observes National Resilience Day, Honors 2005 Earthquake Victims

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) held a ceremony to commemorate National Resilience Day, paying tribute to victims of past disasters, including the October 8, 2005 earthquake, and pledging ongoing commitment to disaster preparedness.

The event at NDMA Headquarters in Islamabad served as a remembrance of the 2005 earthquake and other disasters, expressing solidarity with affected communities across Pakistan. It highlighted the country’s focus on resilience and future hazard preparedness.

Special messages from the President and Prime Minister were broadcasted, recognizing the courage and perseverance of the Pakistani people. They also praised volunteers and the Armed Forces for their dedication during times of crisis.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mr. Khalid Hussain Magsi, attended as the Chief Guest. He applauded NDMA’s efforts in promoting disaster preparedness through coordination and innovation.

NDMA Chairman, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, shared the organization’s strategic shift from reactive to proactive disaster management. He emphasized strengthening early warning systems and community preparedness.

The ceremony concluded with a pledge to continue efforts for a resilient Pakistan, honoring past sacrifices while focusing on protecting future generations.
