NDMA Issues Weather Alert for Gilgit Baltistan with Expected Flash Flooding and Landslides

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for potential weather-related hazards in Gilgit Baltistan (GB) from July 11 to 15, including low to medium level flash floods and landslides due to anticipated rains and thunderstorms.

According to Press Information Department, NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Center forecasts cloudy weather conditions over the next 24 hours, with isolated rainfall expected in parts of GB, including Hunza, Astore, Skardu, Diamir, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar, and Chilas. The authority has advised the Gilgit Baltistan Disaster Management Authority and local administrations to monitor the situation closely and prepare to protect at-risk populations. The public is urged to exercise caution when traveling to landslide-prone areas and to stay informed through NDMA’s mobile app for disaster alerts and safety guidelines.
