Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning regarding the potential for floods and landslides following heavy and very heavy rainfall across several regions of the country. The advisory highlights expected severe weather conditions, including wind and thundershowers, particularly affecting Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the NDMA has outlined the risks of flash floods and landslides in the mountainous and hilly regions, including Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. The Authority has also raised concerns about hill torrents in the Kirthar and KPh-i-Sulaiman ranges, potentially impacting vulnerable areas in Balochistan and Punjab. Urban areas such as Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Narowal, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar are also at risk of urban flooding.
In response to these forecasts, the NDMA has instructed provincial disaster management authorities to issue early warnings and coordinate timely evacuations of populations from high-risk areas. The public is advised to stay alert and refer to the NDMA website or the Pak NDMA Alert app for the latest updates on the situation.
