NDMA Issues Urban Flood Warning for Rahim Yar Khan Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning for potential urban inundation in Rahim Yar Khan (RYK) district within the next 24 hours due to anticipated moderate to heavy rainfall. Residents in low-lying areas are particularly advised to prepare for possible flooding conditions.

According to Press Information Department, the NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Center forecasts scattered rain-wind/thundershowers across the district, which may lead to flooding in urban sectors. In response, the NDMA has released safety guidelines and launched the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert application on mobile platforms to help residents receive timely updates and prepare effectively.

The authority urges the public to seal roofs and windows, clear drainage systems, secure loose outdoor items, and avoid contact with electrical appliances during wet conditions. Additionally, residents should avoid driving or walking through floodwaters and stay aware of submerged obstacles and open manholes. Relevant departments have been instructed to implement necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of the expected severe weather.
