NDMA Issues Flash Flood Warning for Sialkot and Narowal Amid Heavy Rainfall Forecast

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a flash flood warning for the Narowal and Sialkot districts, following a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the Jammu region over the next three days. The alert pertains specifically to Nullah Aik, Daik, and Palkhu, where water levels are expected to rise significantly, posing serious risks to local communities.

According to Press Information Department, the NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Center has directed all relevant departments to implement precautionary measures to mitigate the impact of the anticipated flooding. Residents in the affected areas are urged to exercise extreme caution and relocate from flood-prone zones to ensure their safety. The NDMA has stressed the dangers associated with flash floods, which can occur with little warning and have the potential to cause significant damage and loss of life.

The public is advised to avoid attempting to cross fast-flowing water, especially over bridges, as even six inches of moving water can pose serious hazards. In response to the ongoing risk, the NDMA has also launched the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert application, which is available on both Google Play Store and iOS App Store, to provide timely alerts, advisories, and safety guidelines to the public.
