Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported that foreign tourists caught in the recent flash floods in the Astore region are safe and have been moved away from the impacted areas. The confirmation comes amidst ongoing efforts to manage the crisis and restore affected infrastructure.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, had directed the NDMA to prioritize the safety of both tourists and local residents in the wake of the flooding. In response, the NDMA has actively relocated the tourists, including two Italians and an Argentinian, to secure locations far from the flood zones.
The NDMA’s report to the Prime Minister detailed the immediate actions taken to safeguard the tourists and outlined ongoing operations to repair critical infrastructure, such as the Feena Bridge, which is vital for the region’s accessibility and recovery.
