NDMA Announces Pakistan’s First International Expo on Disaster Risk Reduction for 2024


Islamabad, The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan is gearing up to host the country’s inaugural International Expo on Disaster Risk Reduction (PIEDRR) in 2024. This landmark event, scheduled for April 23-25 at the Pak China Friendship Center in Islamabad, aims to enhance global collaboration and knowledge sharing to build more resilient societies prepared to tackle various global disasters.



According to National Disaster Management Authority, PIEDRR 2024 is expected to draw participation from 44 countries, including members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), and NDMA partner nations. The expo is designed as a crucial international forum for achieving several critical goals: fostering collaborative partnerships, facilitating knowledge exchange among experts, practitioners, and policymakers, and discussing anticipatory actions and practical recommendations for creating a safer and more resilient world in the face of poly-disasters.



The expo will host a wide range of participants, including international and bilateral partners, high-level dignitaries, government officials, policymakers, emergency responders, and representatives from global academia and think tanks. Activities at PIEDRR 2024 will include capacity displays, seminars, group discussions, ignite sessions, and global simulation exercises, offering a comprehensive platform for stakeholders to unite, share innovations, and drive forward significant improvements in disaster risk reduction.



PIEDRR 2024 stands as a testament to Pakistan’s proactive approach in addressing disaster risk and showcases the nation’s commitment to leading global efforts in this critical area.
