Srinagar: The National Conference (NC) has voiced strong disapproval of the growing number of petitions filed throughout India seeking surveys of mosques and Muslim shrines.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a press statement, the party’s provincial President for Kashmir, Showkat Mir, expressed concern about this trend, cautioning that such actions could disrupt the nation’s peaceful atmosphere. Mir highlighted that a recent petition for a survey at the Khawaja Moin Ud Din Chisti shrine in Ajmer Sharief has upset millions who revere the site.
Mir emphasized the shrine’s role as a symbol of unity, attracting pilgrims worldwide regardless of their faith or nationality. He described these petitions as attempts to create division. Furthermore, Mir criticized the demolition of historic mosques and structures by Hindutva groups, characterizing it as a deliberate move to undermine communal harmony in the country.
