Nayeem urges India to pave way for negotiated settlement of Kashmir dispute

Srinagar, November 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Illegally detained senior APHC leader Nayeem Ahmed Khan while expressing concern over serious violations of human rights in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has stressed the need for a negotiated settlement of the Kashmir dispute. Nayeem Ahmad Khan in a statement from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail advised India to “take a leaf out of their founding father’s book who knew that Kashmir is a political dispute that can only be resolved through third-party mediation or dialogue among key stakeholders.”

“It is this reason that the first prime minister of India Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru took the issue to the United Nations in 1948”, he said. “Given the historical context of the dispute, India can neither change the disputed nature of the Kashmir conflict nor can it deceive the world anymore”, he added.

Referring to the worsening situation in the region, he said that the BJP government in tacit support of the RSS had developed a militia of so-called social activists who were grossly engaged in vicious activities in the region. He said that the attack on the Hurriyat office at Raj Bagh in Srinagar was an open display of this hooliganism by army-backed civil militia. Terming it as an utter frustration of the Modi regime, he said, such wicked and pre-planned attacks won’t change the reality of the Kashmir issue.

Nayeem Ahmad Khan expressed profound grief over the death of former Hurriyat chairman Molvi Abbas Ansari and detained APHC leader Altaf Ahmed Shah. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir National Front during its extraordinary meeting took serious notice of the sad plight of Kashmiri prisoners languishing in different jails outside Kashmir. The meeting urged the UN and other human rights organizations to play their role to ensure the early release of Nayeem Ahmed Khan and other Hurriyat leaders.
