Islamabad: Government agencies have intensified their ongoing nationwide crackdown on smuggling, achieving substantial seizures of illegal commodities including sugar, fertilizer, flour, cigarettes, clothing, and Iranian oil within the past week.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, from the 4th to the 11th of this month, enforcement teams confiscated 41.4 metric tons of sugar, 365.2 metric tons of fertilizer, and 345.15 metric tons of flour. Additionally, 31,951 stocks of cigarettes, 641 bags of clothes, and approximately 130,000 liters of Iranian oil were recovered during the operations conducted across various regions of the country.
The ongoing crackdown is part of a broader effort by the government to curb the illegal trade that undermines the local economy and affects the availability of goods within regulated markets. The initiative is aimed at reinforcing legal trade practices and enhancing economic stability by removing illicit products from the market.
