Nationwide Campaign Against Power Theft Recovers Over Rs. 114 Billion

Islamabad: In a robust nationwide crackdown on electricity theft, the government has successfully recovered over 114 billion rupees, significantly impacting energy sector revenues and compliance. The campaign, which encompasses major cities and regions across Pakistan, has led to the collection of more than one billion rupees in just the current month alone.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, enforcement teams have been active in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Quetta, and other areas, focusing on identifying and penalizing instances of power theft. This initiative not only aims to curb illegal electricity usage but also to instill a culture of accountability and fairness within the energy distribution system.

The campaign has also led to significant legal actions, with 123 individuals arrested for their involvement in electricity theft over the past month. These efforts are part of a broader government strategy to enhance the efficiency of power distribution and reduce losses that have historically burdened Pakistan’s power sector.

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the country’s energy infrastructure and ensuring reliable power supply to all regions by tackling issues that lead to energy loss and financial deficits.
