NationalGrid-Pakistan Completes 220kV Transmission Line to Dhabeji Special Economic Zone

Lahore: NationalGrid-Pakistan has successfully energized the 220 kV transmission line extending from Jhampir-II to the Dhabeji substation, establishing a reliable electricity supply to the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone (DSEZ). This development is anticipated to foster job creation, attract investment, and stimulate growth in the region.

According to National Transmission and Despatch Company, the project, completed on October 23, 2026, at a cost of PKR 1,806.90 million, aligns with the Federal Government’s initiative to develop DSEZ into a hub of industrial activity. Reliable power is essential for sustaining industrial operations, encouraging business investments, and supporting economic stability.

As the industries within the zone expand, they are expected to generate employment opportunities for local communities, enhance supply chains, and contribute to the national economy. This development presents the youth of Sindh with opportunities to pursue careers within their home province.

Engr. Altaf Hussain Malik, Managing Director of NationalGrid, commended the project team for the successful completion of this endeavor. He emphasized the significance of this project in reinforcing the power infrastructure for DSEZ and supporting its long-term industrial objectives. NationalGrid-Pakistan remains dedicated to building a transmission network that empowers every region and delivers developmental benefits to communities throughout the country.
