National Security Committee Lauds Armed Forces, Affirms Sovereignty


Islamabad, Chaired by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the National Security Committee convened on January 19, 2024, to address critical national security concerns, particularly the recent tensions with Iran.



According to Press Information Department, the forum reviewed the political and diplomatic fallout from the altercation with Iran and its regional security implications. Officials briefed the meeting on ‘Operation Marg Bar Sarmachar’ against Baloch terrorists in Iran and the readiness of Pakistan’s borders against further incursions.



The Committee firmly stated that Pakistan’s sovereignty is inviolable and any transgressions would be met with full state power. Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to the safety of its citizens, the forum also stressed the significance of using established communication channels with Iran to address mutual security issues.



The meeting concluded with a recommitment to combating terrorism and an affirmation of the principles of good neighborly relations, expressing hope that Pakistan and Iran could resolve differences through dialogue.



The session was attended by high-ranking officials, including the Caretaker Ministers for Defence, Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Information, military chiefs, and intelligence agency heads.
