Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) to address the regional tensions following Israeli military actions against Iran. The committee condemned Israel’s aggression, which coincided with ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States.
The NSC expressed regret over the escalation of tensions, emphasizing that these developments threaten regional stability and undermine diplomatic efforts. The committee reaffirmed Iran’s right to self-defense as outlined in the UN Charter.
Condolences were offered to Iran for the loss of innocent lives, with prayers for the recovery of the injured. The NSC voiced concern over potential further escalation after Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, highlighting violations of International Atomic Energy Agency resolutions, international law, and the UN Charter.
Pakistan’s commitment to engaging with relevant parties to promote peace and stability was reiterated. The NSC called for conflict resolution through dialogue and diplomacy, stressing adherence to international human rights and humanitarian laws.
