National Institute of Management Delegation Tours PTA Headquarters, Focuses on Cybersecurity and Consumer Protection

Islamabad: A group of officers and faculty members from the 41st Mid-Career Management Course at the National Institute of Management (NIM), Islamabad, toured the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Headquarters on Monday. The visit included briefings on PTA’s key roles, particularly in cybersecurity, consumer protection, and telecom device management.

According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority announcement issued on 23 September 2024, the delegation was greeted by senior PTA officials who provided an in-depth presentation on the Authority’s functions. They emphasized the importance of cybersecurity in the telecom sector, measures taken to protect consumers, and the workings of the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS).

The visit is part of the curriculum of the Mid-Career Management Course which aims to provide participants with practical insights into the functioning of top-tier regulatory bodies in Pakistan. The focus on cybersecurity and consumer protection measures during the tour reflects the increasing prioritization of these areas in the telecom industry.
