National Conference Leader Highlights Concerns Over Delay in Assembly Polls in IIOJK

Srinagar, Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, the Additional General Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, has voiced significant concerns regarding the distressing situation of people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, Kamal, in his statement from Srinagar, expressed unease over the prolonged delay in conducting Assembly elections in the region. He interpreted this hesitation as an indication of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) apprehension about facing political repercussions due to its policies towards Kashmir. Kamal criticized the BJP’s governance model as authoritarian and lacking the fundamental democratic principles enshrined in the Constitution.

He also condemned the Modi government for administering IIOJK without democratic legitimacy, which he believes is a direct affront to the democratic values supposedly upheld by India’s Constitution.
